Like everything else about us, joining ENGIE is really straightforward. It can be as simple as taking a few minutes to give us your details, then sending in a meter read. We'll do all the work in the background and talk to your current supplier.
Then we'll be in touch with details of your switch or if you need to supply anymore information.
The joining process
There are two ways to join. You can click the 'Get a Quote' button on the home page, or you can call our friendly team in Newcastle and they'll take care of it for you. You can even start online and call our team to complete the process. If you need to pause part way through the process, you can save your progress and come back to it later on.
Once we have your address and payment details, we’ll get straight to work switching you over. The whole process usually takes about three weeks.
Getting you on-board
As soon as you tell us you want to join, we’ll send you a welcome pack. This has all the important details about the plan you’ve chosen and a projection of what it’s likely to cost. You have two weeks to review your welcome pack and tell us if you change your mind.
We make sure we’ve identified the right meters for your home (it’s normally simple but can be a bit more complicated if your home is brand new, or in a block with lots of meters and only one postcode).
We'll deal with your old supplier
We contact your old supplier and make the arrangements to have your supply switched over – this is really straightforward and there’s no interruption to your gas or electricity supply. We'll work out with your old supplier when they stop charging you and we take over, so you don't have to worry about it. It's not like changing phone or broadband provider and you’ll never have to pay two suppliers for the same period.
At this stage your previous supplier could object to the switch, this would usually be because of any outstanding debt. However, if this happens, we'll let you know as soon as possible, so you can contact your current supplier.
Ready to go with ENGIE
We’ll tell you when everything’s ready and we’ve got a date for the switch-over. We’ll ask you for a meter reading a couple of days beforehand. This allows your old supplier to work out your final bill and tells us your starting meter reads with ENGIE.
We want to minimise the amount of paperwork we send out; it saves energy and cost and allows us to offer you a better price. We’ll encourage you to create an online MyENGIE account so that you can see all the useful information about your ENGIE account and more importantly how much energy you’re using. You can also view past bills and statements anytime, day or night.
